Learn the craft of working with leather

There’s nothing quite like the smell and feel of good leather, right?

We love sharing our craft! If you want to get back-to-basics and create your own belt or small leather item then register with us for a hands-on artisan leather work class.

All the classes are run by our own resident expert Anthony Todd, who’ll show you how to combine the best of British contemporary design with artisan techniques that have been passed down the generations, he’ll help you every step of the way.

The materials you’ll be using are the very best veg tanned British bridle leather. We work hard to source the provenance of all our materials. We want to know where the hides are from, where and how they are tanned so we can pass this knowledge on to you.

For our Taster Class £60. Duration 1.5 hrs.  Maximum of 3 people

You’ll learn the time-honoured processes that underpin leather work - how to use a template, how to cut out leather, gain understanding and experience using industrial sewing machines, and if prefer hand stitching techniques. You will come away with an accessory made by you.

For the Belt Making Class £130. Duration 2.5 hrs. Maximum of 3 people

Along with the skills in the Taster class you will learn which specialist tools needed to make a belt, emboss initials and edge dye a different colour if you so wish. You will learn how to add a buckle with either rivets or hand stitching. You will come away with a lovely belt made by you.

For the Tote Bag Making Class £225. Duration 4 hrs. Maximum of 2 people

You will create from our pattern and be able to personalise your bag by choosing contrast leather colours, stitching colour, creating a painted detail with leather paint (optional), learn to make a bag lining. You will walk away with a leather bag that truly is your own – stylish and built to last!

Please note, if you do not have experience of sewing on industrial machines you will need to take the Taster Class first.

'I have never worked with leather before so the taster class was an excellent introduction. Anthony is a fab teacher providing clear instruction while making it brilliant fun. An hour and a half has never passed so quickly and I was surprised and delighted to make both a keyring and credit card holder in top quality leather. Thank you so much!' Jo Taylor Reflexologist, Brixham

"I had a great afternoon with Anthony and Colette learning about all things leather. Anthony walked me through the whole process of making a dog collar and lead from start to finish, with endless patience and answers for even my silliest of questions. Would highly recommend if you're looking to either learn a new skill or just have some fun doing something different" Graeme Finneberg

"Loved it!  Thanks for your time on Saturday morning Anthony.  It’s cool to spend time with someone so obviously in to what they’re doing." Dec & Andy.

"I just wanted to say what a good morning I had yesterday, really understanding and any questions I had were answered and definitely going to look into doing more. Thank you again I really did enjoy it." Rosie
